eliyahu.org / RAIM PatentsWhy bother listing these?!Over the years several people have gotten in touch to ask about the RAIM memory system we introduced with the IBM z196 mainframe, usually to ask about patent contents to figure out if they need to list any for prior art. Sites like ResearchGate help with this, but I'm providing these so as to avoid having to do any searches. The basic RAIM design we developed continued until the release of the z15, when it was replaced with an entirely new ECC basis and four-channel architecture. During the interim period the underlying H-matrix changed, and we added new capabilities in terms of chip marking, for example. Anyway -- these are the patents from the original, first-generation RAIM system design. Details can also be found in publications linked on the home page for people unfamiliar. The PDFs here are just copies from the USPTO and are also available if you search there; you'll also find patents for the subsequent RAIM design employed in later IBM Z mainframes. There have also been additional, non-mainframe, applications of our "Redundant Array Of Independent Memory" concept, which is terrific. Patents should never stifle innovation, and new discoveries and designs should always be shared when possible.
